One of my passions is to illustrate. I had the opportunity to customize a motorcycle helmet some time ago. I researched and learned which are the best colors to use when painting on fiberglass and I found a specific acrylic pen that I really liked. I started painting helmets just because I thought there are too many boring designs out there, and the hand-painted ones are so few. I’m the happy owner of a limited edition Vespa 946 and wanted to design a helmet for myself. To draw on the helmet is not the difficult part, but sealing it and making it look like a totally professional finish, is what makes it quite difficult.
Adapting my Illustrations to People’s Personalities.
These beach-themed Vans are part of my side works. They were ordered by my dear friend’s son. He had in mind a beach scene, Cali style. Nothing serious, super colorful, no dark colors. I followed his direction and came up with a couple of sketches. He loved the pencil version, so I dove into the ink design on the actual shoes. The final illustration doesn’t even resemble what was originally sketched, but the came out so much better!
